Jude Bellingham has quickly established himself as one of the best signings of the summer window having scored in nearly every game since joining Real Madrid, and scored yet another last-gasp winner last night.

The England star Made his Champions League debut for the club in last night’s victory over Union Berlin, where he scored the only goal of the game in the dying moments.

This means that he has now scored six goals in six games across all competitions, and the 20-year-old has now spoken about the Real Madrid fans.

Speaking after the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, Bellingham expressed his gratitude to the Real Madrid fans, and admitted that they exceeded his expectations.

“More, I’ve goosebumps talking about it now,” he replied when asked about whether the fans had met his expectations.

“I just am so grateful to be at this club. I think I talk about the players and the staff and the mentality they have and the quality they have, and then there’s the flip side of it with the fans, where as you’re arriving to the stadium they’re flocking in.

“Thousands are outside just to get a glimpse of the bus, and then at the game they were there before the warm-up, and you don’t really understand how big this club is until you play for them, and I’ve got that honour and I’ll always wear it with pride.”

Exceeding expectations

Whilst the Real Madrid fans did exceed Bellingham’s high expectations, he has also exceeded expectations since his arrival, as his performances have been consistently remarkable.

He has already won a lot of points for his side with his goals and they have come in crucial moments. His winner against Berlin followed an outstanding performance against Real Sociedad and another last-minute winner against Getafe.

Real Madrid lost Karim Benzema over the summer, and star attacker Vinicius Junior is currently injured. The goal-scoring burden has now fallen to Bellingham, and he has grasped this responsibility with both hands.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have now won all of their games so far this season, despite suffering a number of injuries and they have Bellingham to thank.

Going forward they will hope that they can reduce the pressure on him, as right now they are completely reliant on the Englishman to deliver goals.
