Real Madrid summer signing Arda Guler is still yet to feature for the club after suffering a number of injury setbacks, and having finally returned to training, he may have to wait longer for his debut.
The 18-year-old returned to full training today with the rest of the squad, and will be hoping to be a part of the matchday squad at the weekend as Real Madrid face Sevilla.
However, he may have to wait a little bit longer to feature, as the teenager may still not be ready after his injury, and both he and the club will not want to risk another setback.
Guler may have to wait for return
In a report for The Athletic, journalist Mario Cortegana has now revealed that sources close to the club believe that Guler needs to spend more time training before he can return.
“Guler is yet to feature for Madrid following his move from Fenerbahce this summer. The 18-year-old suffered a quadriceps injury in September, having been on the cusp of a return following knee surgery in August,” the report claimed.
“Although Guler has a chance of making the next matchday squad, Real Madrid sources suggest he needs to continue his training to get up to full fitness.”
Excitement over Guler

Guler’s debut will be a highly-anticipated one, with the teenager arriving with a huge reputation after his breakthrough at Fenerbahce.
Luka Modric recently described him as a “great talent,” and the Turkey international has also been compared to Mesut Ozil given his playing style.
It remains to be seen which position he will be used in, but if Guler can return to his best level after his injury, he will no doubt be an exciting player to watch at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid face Sevilla this weekend, before trips to face Braga in the Champions League and Barcelona in El Clasico.
