Real Madrid legend Guti has singled out Jude Bellingham for praise, claiming that he is already one of the best players in the world.
Bellingham scored on his La Liga debut against Athletic Club on Saturday and delivered an exceptional performance as Real Madrid won at San Mames.
Guti, who knows what it takes to succeed as an attacking midfielder at Real Madrid, liked what he saw, telling El Chiringuito how well-rounded Bellingham is, and highlighting the fact that he is being allowed to flourish as a key star without the presence of Karim Benzema or Kylian Mbappe to take attention away from him.
“Bellingham is the most complete player in football today,” Guti stated.
“It has been good for him to come at this time without Mbappe or Benzema.”
Bellingham’s stunning debut
Bellingham doubled Real Madrid’s lead in the first half of the opening La Liga match, with a first-time hit from a corner which found the bottom corner, but it was his contributions all over the pitch which really caught the attention.
On the ball, he completed three of his four attempted dribbles as per SofaScore, whilst completing 40 passes and helping his side go forward. However, his performance at the top of the midfield diamond was incredibly complete beyond his attacking contributions.

He won an astonishing 12 of his 14 attempted ground duels, whilst also making three tackles and two interceptions. His skill on the ball, combined with his physicality off it, makes him an almost unique talent at the top level, and it is already clear why Real Madrid parted with a huge fee to sign the Englishman.
There is plenty more to come from Bellingham, and this performance was a nice teaser for Real Madrid fans. The 20-year-old is one of the best players in his position, and his potential to grow is almost frightening.
