Former Real Madrid fan favourite Isco has confirmed that he would like to return to football soon, having been a free agent since December.
The midfielder left Real Madrid last year, joining Sevilla on a free transfer. However, the 31-year-old fell out with sporting director Monchi and had his contract terminated after just a few months.
A move to Union Berlin in January fell through, and the former Spain international has been without a club since.
Speaking to MARCA, Isco stated that he would like to return to the game and find a new club.
“I miss the ball, competing, the games, the locker room. I miss feeling like a footballer. And well, it’s true that I have offers, but I don’t want to make a mistake or take another false step in my career. The important thing is that I still have the enthusiasm intact. I want to play, to compete, to have fun and I look forward to returning,” he claimed.
Where did it go wrong for Isco?
The midfielder was an instant hit at the Santiago Bernabeu when he joined from Malaga 10 years ago, and ended up providing 110 goals and assists in 353 games for Los Blancos, winning five Champions Leagues in the process.
He was renowned for his incredible technique and skill, and also picked up 38 Spain caps in his career.

However, the last few years saw him struggle with injuries, fitness and form, and by the time he left Real he was a shadow of his former self.
He managed 19 appearances for Sevilla prior to his departure last year, but it remains to be seen what clubs would be willing to gamble on him given his struggles in the last few seasons.
Real Madrid fans will be eager to see such a gifted player return to the pitch, and he will go down as a cult hero at the club given his brilliant performances when at his best.
