Real Madrid want to find a loan solution for Reinier Jesus, but they are reportedly becoming concerned at his lack of progress since joining over three years ago.

The 21-year-old signed from Flamengo for around £25m in January 2020, but is still yet to make his debut for Los Blancos, having been out on loan at Borussia Dortmund and Girona.

The Brazilian failed to make an impact in both of his loan spells, and with competition increasing within the Real Madrid squad, there is some concern that the midfielder may not make the grade despite the substantial investment in him.

A report from AS has claimed that both the player and the club want another loan spell this year, but Real are now worried that if he does not develop over the next season, that time will run out for him to prove himself as someone who can eventually become part of the squad.

What next for Reinier Jesus?

The report goes on to state that Girona are interested in taking the attacking midfielder on loan again, despite not featuring much last season. Manager Michel rates Reinier’s talent highly, and thinks there is more to come from him.

This could be a good move for the young star, as he will move within the league to familiar surroundings under a coach that knows him. If he can gain more chances next season, he can begin to thrive in La Liga, and if he can deliver consistent performances, then he could rejoin the Real Madrid squad in time to replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

The signings of Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham may restrict his chances further, but if he can add goals and assists to hs game next season, he can show why he deserves an opportunity to fight for his place in the team.
