Kylian Mbappe has rejected a contract offer from his club Paris Saint-Germain, which included a buyout clause to let him leave next summer.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that PSG made one final attempt to keep the forward, who seems dead-set on a move to Real Madrid.

This has been a long saga which appears to have no end in sight, as Mbappe has one year left on his contract and has no intention of extending with PSG, who now want to sell him.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano claimed that PSG will now continue to keep Mbappe away from the squad, and are furious that he has rejected the offer.

“I can confirm today, that after, in the recent days, Mbappe said no to the final desperate proposal from Paris Saint Germain. It was ‘sign a contract and let’s include a buyout clause, a guaranteed sale for summer 2024, so you can pick your favourite club and leave next summer as you want,’ but Mbappe said no again,” he stated.

“PSG will keep the player out of the first squad, training with the players who are out of the project. And so he’s not with a squad of Luis Enrique. That’s the position of PSG since Monday and this will remain at least for this week.

Is there an end in sight?

Romano went on to state that PSG “keep believing that Mbappe has an agreement with Real Madrid for summer 2024,” and that the Parisians are angry at the position the striker has left them in.

Given the departure of Karim Benzema, Real Madrid may consider paying a fee to bring him in now, and they would be able to afford even a huge deal for the World Cup winner.

It seems that Mbappe is desperate to join Real Madrid, putting them in a strong position. They can either wait until PSG’s desperation forces them to lower Mbappe’s price, or they can sign him for free next season.

It seems inevitable that Mbappe will wear the Real Madrid shirt, the only question is about when he will make the move to the Spanish capital.
