Real Madrid see Aurelien Tchouameni as an important player, and will not sell the midfielder this summer despite links to clubs in the Premier League, Fabrizio Romano has claimed.
The 23-year-old had a mixed first season at the Santiago Bernabeu, initially impressing but losing his form, and subsequently his place in the side, in the second half of the season.
This led to speculation that he could end his stay in Spain after just one year, with Liverpool and Arsenal reportedly among the interested clubs, but these rumours may have now been put to bed.
Speaking on the Born And Red YouTube channel, Romano claimed that a move looks highly unlikely for the France international this summer.
“Honestly, for Tchouameni, I think it’s going to be very complicated. I’m not sure that Real Madrid need to sign a player. So I’m not sure this is the reality,” he stated.
“From what I’m hearing, Real Madrid consider Tchouameni a very important player for their project. So I think this is more than complicated. never say never in the market, but at the moment it looks very difficult and I think part of Real Madrid’s plan is to have a very strong midfield for next season.”
Should Real Madrid sell Tchouameni?
Tchouameni arrived for a big-money fair amidst a lot of fanfare from AS Monaco a year ago, and despite not having the impact he would have liked in his first season, he has already displayed his immense talent at times.

The young star initially arrived as a direct replacement for Casemiro, and this was a huge task for the Frenchman. Carlo Ancelotti later experimented with Toni Kroos as the deepest midfielder and Eduardo Camavinga as an inverted left-back, but this backfired as Real Madrid were heavily beaten in the Champions League by Manchester City.
Even though Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler have been added to the midfield this summer, Tchouameni is still the player most suited to the deep number six role, and selling him now would come as a huge surprise, given the club’s strong faith in him for the future.
