Real Madrid can afford to sign Kylian Mbappe for a huge fee this summer, in addition to their current heavy spending.
Los Blancos have already brought in Fran Garcia, Brahim Diaz, Arda Guler and Jude Bellingham for a significant outlay this summer, but can still afford a deal for the Frenchman in this transfer window.
Mbappe is currently at war with Paris Saint-Germain over his future, with the player keen to stay for one more year before joining Real Madrid for free, whilst PSG want him to extend his deal or leave now.
There is currently a huge offer on the table from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, which could see the 24-year-old move there for one season before joining Real Madrid next summer anyway, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side have the means to bring him in now if they wish.
A report from The Athletic has claimed that cutting the likes of Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema from the wage bill, as well as their significant cash reserves, means that Real Madrid have plenty of wiggle room in their budget when it comes to financing a deal for Mbappe.
Should Real Madrid sign Mbappe now?
Real Madrid’s urgency to recruit the striker has increased since the departure of Karim Benzema.
The original plan was for Benzema to stay for another season, with Mbappe joining for free in 2024. Benzema’s exit was somewhat unexpected, and this could mean Real Madrid bring forward their plans to help replace him with Mbappe.

However, with Carlo Ancelotti expected to leave at the end of next season, Real might be in no hurry to rush through a deal for Mbappe unless his price drops towards the end of the window, and the club have a clearer idea of who their next manager might be.
Real are currently in a very strong position, given that they have the financial firepower to bring the “world class” forward in now, whilst also seeing the advantages in waiting for the end of next season to potentially sign him on a free transfer.
