Real Madrid should look at 31-goal star as Mbappe alternative

Real Madrid have been long-linked with a move for Kylian Mbappe, and whilst they look set to secure the Frenchman for free next summer, there are no guarantees yet that the 24-year-old will move to the Santiago Bernabeu So what about a Real Madrid move for Victor Osimhen instead?

Karim Benzema’s move to Saudi Arabia this summer has left Real Madrid short of options in attack, and if they cannot secure Mbappe now or next summer, then they will need to find an alternative.

One name that they have been linked with is Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, but with the England captain also proving difficult to sign, other options may have to be considered.

Napoli striker Osimhen could be looked at by Real Madrid as a ready-made superstar who could also be an option for years to come.

Should Real Madrid move for Osimhen?

Although it could be an expensive deal, if a move for Mbappe does not materialise, then Osimhen could be the Galactico striker that Florentino Perez is looking for.

The 24-year-old has had an outstanding season at Napoli, firing them to a first title in over 30 years, and his 31 goals in 39 games makes him one of Europe’s deadliest marksmen.

Although he may not be able to replicate the playmaking that Benzema and Mbappe offer outside the box, he could bring extra physicality, speed and an aerial threat to the front line alongside Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo.

A move currently looks way off, with Real still interested in Mbappe, and having added Joselu and Brahim Diaz to pad the depth upfront.

Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Mariano Diaz all departed for free this summer alongside Benzema, and whilst that has made room on the wage bill, Los Blancos may find themselves depleted in attack next season if a top-class striker does not arrive.

This desperation for a striker this year means that Los Merengues may have to splash the cash, and if they cannot strike a deal for Mbappe, Osimhen would be the best alternative option for Real Madrid in terms of quality, goal threat and status.
