It is a busy week ahead for Real Madrid as they will travel to Italy to face Serie A Champions Napoli, but that is not the only Champions League game they will be keeping an eye on.

Real Madrid will reportedly have their eye on proceedings at St James’ Park, as Newcastle United take on Paris Saint-Germain.

Whilst they will watch Kylian Mbappe yet again, there are two Newcastle players seemingly attracting interest from Real Madrid.

Real Madrid to scout two Newcastle stars

Spanish outlet Defensa Central have now reported that Real Madrid scout Juni Calafat will be in attendance at Newcastle to watch midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and striker Alexander Isak.

Both players are of interest to Los Blancos, and they want to take a closer look at the pair in what is one of the highest-profile games they may have this season.

Guimaraes has recently signed a new contract with a release clause of around £100m, whilst Isak is a name more familiar with Real Madrid fans, having played for Real Sociedad prior to his move to Newcastle last year.

Could Real Madrid sign Guimaraes or Isak?

In the short-term, it does seem unlikely that Real Madrid would aim to sign either player. Carlo Ancelotti’s side have incredible depth in midfield, making a move for the Brazilian unnecessary right now.

In the long-run, he could be an option to help replace Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, but there are enough young superstars in the Real Madrid midfield right now that he will still be unlikely to start.

Isak meanwhile, could be eyed up as an alternative to Mbappe, and it will be interesting to see how both fare against each other on Wednesday. Mbappe has been Real Madrid’s priority for over two years, with a deal expected to materialise this summer, but if it does not, then Madrid’s desperation for a new striker could see them turn to the Swedish attacker.
