Real Madrid have officially denied the rumours claiming that President Florentino Perez was to step down from his role.
Rumours were circulating that the 76-year-old was to resign from his post this summer, but these have now been officially rebuked, with Real Madrid fiercely condemning the rumours as false.
“These rumours are categorically false and are due to certain interests that have nothing to do with reality,” Real Madrid stated in an official club communication.
Perez has been President since 2000, and in that time he has overseen six Champions League wins, as well as building up the ‘Galactico’ culture of world-class footballers joining Real Madrid for huge fees.
He is often influential in signings, and will play a big part in the Kylian Mbappe saga, as Real Madrid attempt to sign the Frenchman.
Could Perez leave now?
Until recently, there has been little talk of Perez leaving despite his age, and given his power and influence at the club, a departure would have a significant impact going forward.
Perez was appointed in 2000, and followed through on his outlandish promise to bring Luis Figo to the club from Barcelona, sparking an era of huge transfers.

In 23 years, the likes of David Beckham, Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Gareth Bale have joined for huge fees, and these arrivals helped keep Perez in favour with the fans, and with the club currently in a strong financial position, his strategies have paid off.
Real Madrid have brought in Arda Guler, Jude Bellingham, Joselu, Brahim Diaz and Fran Garcia for a significant outlay this summer, and are still so financially strong that they can afford to sign Mbappe for a potentially huge fee if they wish to agree a deal now.
Perez staying is therefore vital for Real Madrid now, and with Carlo Ancelotti potentially departing at the end of the season, he will likely have a big say in who the club appoint as their next manager.
